Topsent, 1928
Definition: Encrusting, massive, bulbous or digitate growth forms. Skeleton lacking any axial compression, usually plumose or plumo-reticulate, composed of light spongin fibres cored by bouquets of entirely smooth, slightly spined or entirely spined rhabdostyles. Microscleres are contort or spirally curved microspined sigmas called spirosigmas, microspined microstyles and microspined thraustoxeas.
